Portable Kitchens has enjoyed a long stretching relationship with St. Ita’s Hospital in Portrane. The hospital was formerly known as Portrane Asylum and is a long stay institution for those with intellectual disabilities and those who suffer from long term mental illnesses.

The Portable Kitchens team have been able to provide a large scale temporary kitchen facility to provide over 800 meals per day.

The Catering Manager, Robert Brophy, required a large, modular kitchen to suit the requirements of both the hospital and its patients.

Mr Brophy commented that “Portable Kitchens provide an excellent service and I would highly recommend others to consider this company during a kitchen closure. I wish them every success as they continue to meet the demands of their customers.”

The temporary facility comprises of a production kitchen, preparation area, dry goods store and is supported by coldrooms, a chemical store and a food trolley bay. A spacious corridor connects all of these modules together.

Portable Kitchens Managing Director, Gavin Rogers commented “It’s really remarkable to think the we installed a temporary kitchen at St. Ita’s Hospital 15 years ago!”

Mr Rogers continued, “We are delighted to have had such a long standing relationship with the catering staff at St. Ita’s and long may it continue!”
